Toto Wolff sees that Mercedes is struggling this season. Whereas the German racing team set itself the goal at the beginning of the race year to compete for the world title, Mercedes has so far come up empty-handed.
The team boss of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell notes that Mercedes is still a lot short of Ferrari and Red Bull Racing. "I think we are the third team. We are not second and we are not fourth," Wolff analyzed in a conversation with Formula1.com.
Although the car is not cooperating, for now, Wolff has full confidence in his drivers. According to the Austrian, Hamilton and Russell are both ready to fight for prizes at the front of the driver field. "We have two extremely strong drivers."
Hamilton and Russell fight for the points
Russell scored 34 points less than his teammate so far this season. With 84 points, the talented driver is in fourth place in the rankings, while Hamilton is in the sixth position for the time being. Russell is also doing better in terms of podium finishes for the time being. He was on the podium twice this season and this was the case with Hamilton once.
