'Exclusively Ricciardo decides on early McLaren departure'

Daniel Ricciardo still fails to reach his level at McLaren after more than a season. Although the Australian still has a contract until the end of 2023, McLaren CEO Zak Brown previously announced that he was not ruling out an early departure. According to The Race, this decision does not lie with the racing team.
Indeed, when the driver signed a contract at the beginning of 2021, which tied him to the racing team for three years, Ricciardo reportedly forced a unilateral option to leave McLaren in the interim. So as long as the driver does not exercise this, he will remain part of the British formation.
It means that McLaren will have to wait patiently in the coming months to see what Ricciardo will decide. Whereas the driver is known for being fair in judgment to himself, it will be difficult for him to join a similar or better team than McLaren in the coming years. It is therefore possible that he will once again do his best to prove himself at McLaren in 2023.
Ricciardo experiences ailing season at McLaren
The difference with his teammate Lando Norris in the world championship can be called big. While the Briton has already scored 48 points for his team this season, Ricciardo only has eleven points to his name. This puts him in the middle of the standings, below Kevin Magnussen.
