Formula E Jakarta Qualifying | Vergne on pole, De Vries starts from P9
- GPblog.com
Today, Formula E goes loose on the streets of Jakarta. Qualifying was already run this morning, with the DS Techeetah team having an excellent start for the E-Prix.
Jean-Eric Vergne has a great opportunity today to make a nice impact in the Formula E championship. The DS Techeetah driver was too fast for teammate Antonio Felix da Costa with a lap of 1.08.523. It meant a front row lockout for the team. Jaguar Racing's Mitch Evans completes the top three.
With his fast time, Vergne is ahead of his competitors in the championship. The Frenchman is currently third in the standings, while number two Mortara has to start in fourth place and championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne can even be found on the seventh starting spot.
Bad result for the Dutch
For the Dutch in Formula E, qualifying for the E-Prix in Jakarta was not exactly a success. Nyck de Vries with his Mercedes did not get further than the ninth starting spot. Robin Frijns could not set a time, after a piece of a banner got stuck in one of his wheels. Despite that, Frijns will start ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi, after the Italian couldn't set a representative lap time.
