Perez brings Newey to ten wins at Monaco

Sergio Perez won his third Formula One Grand Prix in Monaco. While it was Perez's first win in the Principality, it was technical director Adrian Newey 's tenth victory in Monaco.
Perez was the best
Naturally, all the attention after Perez's win went to the Mexican. With a perfectly executed pit stop strategy 'Checo' found himself in the lead in the second half of the race. He did not relinquish this lead and took his first victory of 2022.
For Newey, this victory also meant something special. It was the tenth time that a car he designed crossed the finish line first in Monaco. He did this with a total of eight different drivers driving for two different teams, McLaren and Red Bull Racing.
All of Newey's wins at Monaco
The first of these ten wins dates back to 1998, when Mika Hakkinnen won the race. David Coulthard won in 2000 and 2002, and Kimi Raikkonen was the last McLaren driver to win Monaco in a car designed by Newey in 2005. For Red Bull, Mark Webber (twice), Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen and now Perez won the Grand Prix in a Newey-designed car.
