For the drivers, it could be a race full of surprises. Not only is a crash - and with it the safety car - always lurking, but this Sunday it is also quite a bit warmer in Baku. Nobody knows how the cars will react to that.

Difference

Max Verstappen looked ahead to the Grand Prix on Sunday morning with great confidence. "Our performance in qualifying is always different compared to the race. Especially on a street circuit. As a team we have a good chance. It's nice and warm and normally there is a lot of chaos here," he told F1 TV.

Verstappen not only has to deal with the Ferrari as a competitor, but teammate Sergio Perez is also in good shape. The Mexican will start ahead of Verstappen in spot 2. "As I said, for the team it can be a good result. Hopefully we will make it difficult for Ferrari today. A lot can happen here, hopefully we take advantage of it. "

Hard tires

Perez is equally expectant about 51 laps of Baku. He repeats Verstappen's words that anything can happen on this tricky circuit. In addition, there is another factor that will come into play: "Nobody has driven on the hard tires here yet," Perez says.
