Hamilton has back pain: Hamilton struggles to get out of his F1 car
Mercedes have been having a tough time with porpoising throughout the 2022 Formula 1 season. They seemed to have understood the issue in Spain, but in Azerbaijan, the problem was worse than ever. Hamilton reported his discomfort on the team radio and struggled to climb out of the car at the end of the race.
P4 for Hamilton
Despite the troubles, Hamilton was able to finish in fourth. The 37-year-old finished one place behind his teammate and engaged in a battle with Pierre Gasly during the closing stages of the race. After he made the overtake, Hamilton reported that his seat had gone cold, perhaps indicating that he had gone numb. Once he arrived in parc ferme, Hamilton struggled to get out of the car.
Before the race, Toto Wolff indicated that the FIA needed to make some changes. In a conversation with Sky Sports, the Mercedes team boss said: "Most of the drivers have come to the conclusion that it's really bad. These regulations will follow us for many years. Now is the time to say that it is a real issue physically. What can we do to lift everyone up? It's not just Mercedes' perspective."
