Ferrari not yet panicking and repeating words of Horner
- GPblog.com
Ferrari has quite a hangover after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz retired with a hydraulic problem and Charles Leclerc' s engine gave up, losing the chance for a win. Mattia Binotto, however, repeats the words that Christian Horner used at the beginning of this season when things went less well at Red Bull.
Ferrari started the 2022 F1 season so promisingly, but in the last few races the championship has been turned completely upside down. Leclerc retired in Azerbaijan and Spain with technical problems, Sainz also retired in Baku and Ferrari threw away a 1-2 in Monaco due to strategy blunders. In the constructors' world championship, Red Bull Racing is now suddenly eighty points ahead.
Ferrari not panicking
At Sky Sports Binotto said earlier that there was no question of panic at Ferrari. The team has worked hard to make the car so competitive, but the Italians knew all too well that reliability could be an Achilles heel. That is why the team was not so euphoric at the beginning of the season and not so dejected now.
Binotto, according to Motorsport.com also the importance of these lessons. With all the dropouts, including those of Kevin Magnussen and Guanyu Zhou, it can gather information and thus make steps forward. Reliability is important, but it takes time. Binotto therefore reiterates Horner's words earlier this year: ''I'd rather have a fast car whose reliability we have to fix than the other way around.''
