Ferrari has decided to replace Charles Leclerc's entire engine this weekend. It means that the Monegasque will run into a penalty and will have to start the race from the back position in Canada on Sunday.

Leclerc's replacement of parts in his engine was in the air all weekend. After last weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix, in which he crashed out with problems with his engine, his team was busy behind the scenes trying to fix it. In doing so, a penalty was seemingly unavoidable.

On Friday evening Ferrari announced that they would be installing a number of new parts, which would mean a grid penalty of ten places for Leclerc. Saturday it appears that the entire engine will be replaced and Leclerc will start from last position.

Leclerc fights for the points in Canada

Leclerc has a tough challenge ahead of him to get into the points. The number three in the world championship cannot afford to fall further behind Max Verstappen, but that seems impossible to avoid after the GP in Canada.
