After Juri Vips was suspended with immediate effect as a junior driver at Red Bull Racing, his Formula 2 team Hitech now also responds to the driver's behaviour. The team owner is shocked by the situation.
Red Bull has launched an internal investigation after Vips made a racist statement during a live stream on Twitch. Vips has been part of Red Bull's junior team since 2018. He made his Formula One debut during the Spanish Grand Prix when he was allowed to participate in FP1.
Vips' team reacts
The driver is racing for Hitech in F2. Team owner Oliver Oakes comments on the situation. "I was shocked and appalled to hear about this incident. The comments made by Juri are offensive and completely not reflective of Hitech’s inclusive values", Oakes tells FormulaNerds.
It is still unclear what the exact consequences will be for Vips' future. On Instagram he shared a message in which he apologised for his statements.
