Rosenqvist to stay at McLaren, but VeeKay still in contention for transfer
- GPblog.com
Felix Rosenqvist will drive longer at Arrow McLaren, but it is not yet clear if the Swede will stay in the IndyCar. Now that McLaren is also coming to Formula E, the British team is considering stabling Rosenqvist there, which could clear the way for Rinus van Kalmthout at the IndyCar team.
Special deal Rosenqvist
McLaren continues to expand. In addition to the Formula 1 team, McLaren came to IndyCar, Extreme E and most recently Formula E. The IndyCar team will expand from two to three cars in 2023. Patricio O'Ward and Alexander Rossi will both have a car at their disposal, but it is not yet clear whether Rosenqvist will drive in the third.
We’re excited to announce @FRosenqvist will remain on our McLaren Racing driver roster from 2023 and beyond.

We’ll confirm whether Felix will drive for @ArrowMcLarenSP or our Formula E team in due course.
Rosenqvist has the necessary experience in Formula E. In two full seasons he managed to win three times and he finished third overall in the 2016-2017 season. Since 2019, the Swede has been driving in the IndyCar Series. With Chip Ganassi, he managed to finish on the podium three times in his first two seasons, including one win. He was unable to repeat this at Arrow McLaren in 2021 and 2022, where he is still waiting for his first podium.
VeeKay to McLaren in the IndyCar?
A logical move for McLaren would be to put Rosenqvist in Formula E. McLaren is still looking at other options for the third IndyCar car. Van Kalmthout would have a good chance at that seat. The Dutchman has been driving for Ed Carpenter Racing since 2019, but McLaren would be a step up for him.
