Verstappen does not get a warm welcome from British F1 fans at Silverstone
- GPblog.com
This weekend, Formula 1 descends on Silverstone, and logically a large part of the audience is made up of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes fans, so Max Verstappen cannot count on a warm welcome from the British public.
Verstappen and Red Bull booed at Silverstone
While Verstappen indicated he had a high opinion of the British F1 fans, that feeling does not seem to be entirely mutual. During a live Sky Sports broadcast, for which several activities were organised with the Formula One drivers, the announcement of the reigning world champion and his team alone was enough to cause massive boos from the audience.
The controversy surrounding Nelson Piquet has not helped public opinion of Verstappen in England either, although the Dutchman has spoken out against the three-time world champion's use of words. However, some British fans are openly speaking out against the boos from their fellow countrymen, according to a number of messages from viewers on Twitter.

Uncool to hear some booing from some British fans as Red Bull come out for the F1 Show

And that is why I’d never go to Silverstone again , those boos are out of order, he didn’t have to come out and chat as he probably knew what would happen #SkyF1

Booing the Red Bull guys? Well I’m back to being out of this weekend. Some of the Silverstone crowd need to remember how to stay classy
