Northamptonshire Police have issued a warning to protesters who are allegedly planning to disrupt the race at Silverstone. A group of protesters are said to be planning to enter the track during the race, creating a life-threatening situation.
Police fear protesters will enter the track
"We have received credible intelligence that a group of protestors are planning to disrupt the 2022 Formula 1 British Grand Prix and possibly invade the track on race day," reads the statement from the Northamptonshire Police which makes a 'direct appeal to this group of people' with its message.
The police, therefore, urge this group of people not to endanger themselves, the drivers, marshals, volunteers and spectators. "Going onto a live racetrack is extremely dangerous – if you go ahead with this reckless plan you're jeopardising lives," the police stress.
The police, therefore, urge protesters to engage in conversation and say they are happy to facilitate a peaceful protest at the circuit. "We just please ask that you do not create a situation that puts lives in danger," the urgent appeal reads.
We strongly urge you to not put yourselves, the drivers, as well as the many marshals, volunteers & members of the public, at risk.
