Horner on booing: 'Double applause next week'

Max Verstappen could count on a lot of boos from the English fans during the first day of the British Grand Prix. Christian Horner stated after the first two free practices that this did not surprise him, he told De Telegraaf.
Most English spectators will still have last year's race in their minds. Verstappen started the race from pole position but was forced to retire after a crash with Lewis Hamilton. It also contributed to Verstappen's lack of popularity in England.
Horner doesn't care about Verstappen cheering
Horner also heard fans in the stands booing Verstappen when he drove past on Friday. However, the British team boss is sure Verstappen is experienced enough to deal with it and is not surprised by the fans' behaviour.
"If he gets booed here, he'll get double the applause next week in Austria," Horner realistically stated. "It's also a bit part of sport. Manchester United will not be welcomed with open arms in every Premier League away game either. Max said it well: we must not look to 2021, but look forward."
