Mick Schumacher is impressing Helmut Marko. The Red Bull advisor has noticed a clear pattern in the Haas driver's development. Marko does not rule out a future collaboration between the German driver and Red Bull Racing.

Schumacher is slowly making his way in Formula 1 after his first season with Haas. The German has been criticised for not performing well enough in recent weeks. At the British Grand Prix, however, he scored points for the first time in his F1 career. Marko sees a clear pattern in his development.

"The start is there. Apparently he really needs pressure and criticism, then he performs well. You see it throughout his career. It was similar in Formula 2 and 3. It's obviously part of his growth trajectory", Marko tells the German RTL.

In his debut year in Formula 2, Schumacher finished 12th, but in his second season he won the championship. In Formula 3, the Haas driver also won the championship in his second year in the racing series. According to Marko, Schumacher therefore needs a year to get going.

Schumacher's contract with Haas expires at the end of 2022. Marko sees potential in Schumacher, so the Austrian does not rule out a future switch to Red Bull. "In general, we follow all young drivers", he says. However, Red Bull currently has a large group of talented juniors within the team, so Schumacher will need to continue to impress.
