Who is the 'GPblog Driver of the Day' of the 2022 Austrian GP?
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc were both successful this weekend in Austria. While the Dutchman was good for winning the sprint race, Leclerc took victory a day later. Mercedes also did well on Sunday. But who is eligible for the title of GPblog Driver of the Day?
Verstappen got off to an excellent start to the race weekend on Friday, managing to take pole position in qualifying. A day later, the reigning world champion kept his Ferrari rivals at bay and cruised to his first win of the weekend. A day later he hoped to win the big race as well, but it went to Leclerc.
Other teams also had a good weekend
Mercedes continued the good trend of the last races. On Friday, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell crashed their car in Q3 of qualifying, forcing the team to work hard to get the drivers back on track. The drivers were then good for third and fourth place on Sunday.
Haas again made a good impression. Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher both managed to finish in the points. McLaren and Alpine also managed to have two cars in the top ten.
