Sergio Perez has not given up hope of winning the world title. The Red Bull Racing driver hopes to come back strongly in France after his early retirement at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Perez wants to gain ground
In the press conference on Sky Sports, Perez indicated that it is crucial to come back strong after a few difficult races. "Two DNFs in the last three races is really bad for championship hopes," the Mexican acknowledged. He therefore hopes to score plenty of points in the two races left on the calendar before the summer break.
Perez expects it to be a challenging race, particularly because of the strong form Ferrari showed in Austria. "We are close between us, Ferrari were stronger in Austri," concludes the Red Bull driver. On top of that, he is also mindful of Mercedes, who have made great strides in race pace since the Silverstone race. "Hamilton has been really fast the last couple of weekends, they are making a lot of ground. In Silverstone, I think he was the fastest driver that weekend," Perez concludes.
