Lewis Hamilton has revealed which Formula One driver he sees as his strongest rival. The Briton will be driving his 300th Grand Prix this weekend and looks back on a long career in which he has gained the necessary experience with opponents.
His most recent rival was of course Max Verstappen, who managed to beat Hamilton for the first time since Nico Rosberg in 2016. In addition to Verstappen and Rosberg, the Briton has also had to deal with Sebastian Vettel and, of course, Fernando Alonso, with whom relations have been anything but good.
Hamilton on strongest rival
In his debut year with McLaren, Hamilton and Alonso immediately formed a fierce rivalry and soon found themselves at odds. Hamilton singles out the Spaniard as the strongest rival he has faced in his F1 career. "It's hard to say who my strongest rival has been. When it comes to pure pace I think it was Fernando, also in terms of skill," the Briton is quoted by Soymotor.com.
"We had a lot of nice battles, I wish there had been more. I hope he is still with us next year and that we have more battles between us in the future," said Hamilton.
