Red Bull strongly opposes FIA intervention on porpoising issue

The FIA says it wants to change the rules for safety reasons, but six other teams in Formula 1 disagree. They believe that only one racing team will benefit from the different rules and that team is Mercedes.

"There is a lot of lobbying to change the regulations significantly for next year to allow a certain team to run their car a lot lower and benefit from that concept. It's late in the year to do this. It's late on in the day for such significant changes to be made to the regulations," Horner told Sky Sports.

FIA no need to intervene

Horner: "Why would you want the car higher? We haven't had a problem. There is only one team that has had a big problem. We've got some of the most talented engineers in our sport, and if we came back next year there would be no issues with these cars."

So at Red Bull they feel there is no safety risk. In the eyes of the Austrians, Mercedes simply has to do a better job itself in the coming months. The intervention of the governing body is unnecessary, according to Horner.
