George Russell set the eighth fastest time in the second free practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Mercedes W13 didn't seem to be quite right. Lewis Hamilton and Russell looked a lot weaker than the previous two weekends.

Russell not sure

The progress the team had made suddenly seemed to have disappeared again on Friday in Hungary. Russell took P8 and Hamilton drove the eleventh time of the session. Russell sounds a bit doubtful afterwards. The Briton is not dissatisfied but has become a little wiser from the hour of driving.

"I'm not so sure. Definitely not the smoothest Friday so far. But a bit of a strange one because we think that it is going to be a wet quali tomorrow and Sunday will be drastically different. So, we have been trying different things with the car. Using it as a test session." Russell said to Sky Sports.

Russell at least got the feel of the track on Friday, but in terms of set-up it seems there is still a lot of work to be done: "You can optimize everything for today, but there is no use of that... it's all for the rest of the weekend. Even if it was a tough one, it was a productive day. We tried things to learn more about the car."
