Marko clarifies: "It was a mechanical problem"

Red Bull Racing had a disappointing qualifying session in Hungary. While the Austrian team was hoping to compete for the front positions, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez had to settle for tenth and eleventh respectively. However, there is a story behind both performances, as the team's advisor explains.
Verstappen showed what he was capable of during Q2. The Dutchman set the fastest time convincingly and looked set to fight for pole position in the next session. However, his car let him down. He noticed at the end of Q3 that he had less power and could not solve the problems quickly.
"It was a mechanical problem", states Marko afterwards in conversation with Auto, Motor und Sport. "We have to replace a part before the race, but we remain unsanctioned."
Marko criticises Formula 1 management
Before Verstappen encountered problems, Perez had already been eliminated. The Mexican failed to survive Q2 and had to end his qualifying early. Perez also had to deal with bad luck in Hungary.
The driver had set a good time, but saw it disappear because of track limits. Marko finds this incomprehensible. "Formula 1 is a billion dollar business and they can't guard the track limits properly. For the third time in a row after Austria and France."
