Still a slim chance for Belgian Grand Prix: this is the scenario
- GPblog.com
The season resumes at the end of August with the Belgian Grand Prix at the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. As is well known, there is a big chance that the F1 circus will be active on Belgian soil for the last time. There is only one possibility to get Belgium on the calendar after all, writes the Belgian newspaper La Dernière Heure.
As we know, two potential calendars for 2023 are circulating. The French-language medium spoke to a source who has seen both calendars himself. On the first - the most likely - Belgium is missing. On it are the Grands Prix in Las Vegas and South Africa, as well as Qatar and China.
China the uncertain factor
On the second version Spa-Francorchamps is included but China is missing. Because of the corona pandemic it is still uncertain if the Chinese will be able to organise a race in 2023. If they are again unable to do so, Belgium will be allocated the vacant spot. In that case, the lights in the Ardennes will probably go green on 10 September 2023.
On both calendars is the South African Grand Prix in Kyalami. If this race cannot be held in April - for example because the organisers have not finished the work in time - there will be no replacement Grand Prix. In that case the calendar counts 23 races.
