Former race director Michael Masi will forever remain linked to the final race of 2021. Meanwhile, the Australian no longer works for the FIA. It is possible that he will soon start working in a new position.

According to News Corp the 44-year-old is in the mix to replace Neil Crompton as chairman of the Supercars Commission. Crompton quit after ten years at the helm of the organisation.

Return

When asked, the Supercars organisation keeps saying that no decision has been made yet, but the outlet claims that Masi is in the mix to return to the organisation he worked for before making the move to Formula One.

Last month it was announced that Masi had decided to leave the FIA after he was sidelined as race director ahead of the 2022 season. The FIA announced last month that Masi wanted to return to Australia to take on new challenges and be closer to his family.
