Jos Verstappen came in action this weekend at the WRC Ypres Rally. On Saturday, his day ended in a crash, but on Sunday Verstappen sr. stayed out of trouble. The Dutchman clearly enjoyed the weekend, as he will be in action several more times this year.
On 16 and 17 September, Verstappen sr. will take part in the Eurol Hellendoorn Rally under the flag of DG Sport Competition for Verstappen.com Racing. It is the fifth round of the Open Dutch Rally Championship. The still inexperienced Verstappen will be in action there on unknown territory.
One week later, Verstappen sr. will return to Belgium for the BRC East Belgium Rally. He will also be in action on November 5 and 6 for the BRC Condroz Rally and on December 3 and 4 for the BRC Spa Rally. The father of Max Verstappen hopes to gain the necessary experience to eventually compete for victory.
Verstappen Sr. enjoys rallying
"Every rally is a learning experience for me. I may be fifty now, but I still learn a lot and have to gain experience in rally driving. But above all I enjoy it and that's why I'm participating", the Dutch driver tells Verstappen.nl.
"I think it is important to finish. But the most important thing for me is to have fun. Of course I want to perform as well as possible at the same time. I am still learning a lot, such as working with a navigator and making pace notes. In which place I finish a rally, we'll see afterwards."
