Conflict or not, Piastri will work for Alpine as if there was no problem
- GPblog.com
No doubt Oscar Piastri and Alpine will be in court soon. But that does not alter the fact that the Australian is working for the French team this weekend. Business as usual.
The story is well known: Alpine had unilaterally announced Piastri as one of its drivers for 2023 following the news that it was losing Fernando Alonso. Piastri himself announced that he would not be driving for the Enstone outfit next year. So where will he drive next year? The case is the hands of lawyers. Alpine has hinted that it wants to take the case to the British High Court to ensure that it is at least compensated for its investment in Piastri.
Simulator
Despite everything, Piastri will get into the simulator at Alpine's factory this weekend. There the talent will help the team to find the right setup for the cars during the GP.
It is still unclear whether the youngster will be in action during free practice or a test day this season. Originally, that was his role, but maybe Alpine will choose someone else, thinking about the future.
