Jos Verstappen: "Must say we were surprised"

Jos Verstappen said in an interview with Viaplay after the race at Spa-Francorchamps that he had expected a podium finish from Max Verstappen, but he had not counted on such a dominant victory.
"He was up for it today," Verstappen sr. said to the camera after the podium ceremony. Max eventually finished some thirty seconds ahead of Carlos Sainz's Ferrari. "We did expect to be on the podium, this was a bit different."
When the former Formula One driver is asked if he is going to force Max to overtake other drivers only in corners like before (because otherwise, it would be too easy), he laughingly says: "No, we don't. We don't do that anymore. That was for learning purposes, but he knows how to do it now.
Red Bull copes well with rule changes
As of this weekend, there are technical directives being enforced regarding porpoising. It doesn't seem to have got in Red Bull's way this weekend. "I have to say honestly that we were surprised at how fast we were here. Of course, there have been some smaller changes and we would be most affected by them, but I think the others are more affected. It just looked very strong. Top, I am happy", Jos concludes.
