Ferrari to talk to Haas about Schumacher soon
- GPblog.com
Mick Schumacher still does not know where he will drive next year. The young German is driving for Haas F1 this year, but his relationship with team principal Guenther Steiner is not great. On top of that, the results are not that great so Schumacher might have to fear for his future. Mattia Binotto will soon talk to Steiner about Schumacher's future.
Schumacher's future still unclear
Schumacher is still part of the Ferrari Academy, but it remains to be seen whether Haas F1 will renew the 23-year-old driver's contract. Schumacher may also have other options open to him. Alpine might be interested and Esteban Ocon has already indicated that he would like to see Schumacher come to Alpine. There have also been some rumours in recent weeks about a switch to AlphaTauri.
Binotto, however, is very keen not to lose Schumacher to another team permanently. The team from Maranello has invested a lot of energy and money in Schumacher and his development and it would be a shame if he were to be snatched up by another team. At Ferrari, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc are under contract for the time being, so there seems to be no place for Schumacher.
Binotto will soon be having talks with Steiner. "He [Mick] has improved in the last few races. But it's too early to make a judgement," the Italian chief executive told Sky . He is aware of statements from Steiner that Ferrari has no influence on the 2023 line-up. "We will sit down with Guenther and make a decision," he said.
