OFFICIAL | Piastri is free from Alpine and may race for McLaren in 2023

The Contract Recognition Board has ruled in favour of Oscar Piastri and McLaren. The Australian can therefore race for the team from Woking in 2023 and does not have to keep his contract with Alpine.
Piastri to McLaren
A remarkable situation arose during the summer break, where both Alpine and Piastri thought they had a valid contract, but both contracts contradicted each other completely. Alpine thought it had a contract with Piastri that allowed them to appoint him as a replacement for Fernando Alonso, but Piastri had already chosen another path and wants to drive for McLaren in 2023.
The CRB has now decided that Piastri is in the right and can race alongside Lando Norris in 2023. Alpine announced earlier that the team will not leave it at that. The French team wants to claim damages from Piastri for the costs of his training. The question is whether Alpine is entitled to that.
"The only Contract to be recognised by the Board is the Contract between McLaren Racing Limited and Mr Piastri dated 4 July 2022. Mr Piastri is entitled to drive for McLaren Racing Limited for the 2023 and 2024 seasons."#F1 https://t.co/AEplL3IL7r
