Marko sees problem for Piastri: 'Put himself under a lot of pressure'

Oscar Piastri will be racing for McLaren next season. The Australian will succeed his fellow countryman Daniel Ricciardo and is ambitious for the coming years. Helmut Marko expects that the young driver has made it very difficult for himself to participate in the motorsport class.
Alpine thought to have appointed Piastri as the successor to Fernando Alonso, but Piastri turned out to have an agreement with McLaren. In the end, the British racing team was the lucky one and can therefore count on the talented driver next season.
Big challenge expected for Piastri
Marko sees that Piastri can achieve something in Formula 1 with his qualities, but also notes that he has made it very difficult for himself in the coming years. Whereas most rookies are brought in quietly, in 2023 all eyes will be on Piastri. The driver can therefore expect a lot of pressure.
"That was a lot of excitement about a driver who hasn't even taken part in an F1 session," Marko commented to Sky Sports Deutschland. "He has put himself under a lot of pressure. His performance next season will be judged much more critical."
