Red Bull Racing worked very hard during the night from Friday to Saturday to find the right set-up for Max Verstappen's RB18. The Dutchman managed to recover well from the first two free practices and take pole. Verstappen can certainly be satisfied with the result.
Verstappen happy with Red Bull changes
Technical problems caused the Red Bull driver to miss a large part of FP1, only to start FP2 lagging behind. Ahead of FP3 and qualifying, the RB18 has been worked hard, resulting in a noticeable difference. "A lot better than yesterday of course. Adjusted a lot to the car and today was a lot better," Verstappen told Viaplay of his qualifying.
The championship leader knew it wouldn't be as straightforward as in Spa-Francorchamps, given the major role downforce plays at Circuit Zandvoort. "To still be on pole here is of course very positive," Verstappen notes. Judging by the long runs he did during FP3, the feeling for the race is also good. "I had a good feeling about the race pace in FP3, in FP1 and FP2 I wasn't able to do that much. That is why I am quite positive about it," concludes the reigning world champion.
