Horner on possible Verstappen record: 'Records don't matter to Max'
- GPblog.com
Never before has a driver managed to win 14 races in a Formula 1 season. Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel hold the record for thirteen wins in a season, but if Max Verstappen keeps going like this he could break that record. The Red Bull Racing driver doesn't care though, according to Christian Horner.
Records don't matter to Verstappen
Verstappen is now just four wins away from the impressive record. According to Horner, however, this is no additional motivation for the world champion. "I don't think he's interested. He doesn't see things that way," the Red Bull team boss is quoted as saying by Motorsport-Total.com.
According to Horner, Verstappen just wants to try and win every race. "That's his motivation. He is not one for statistics and records," the Brit added. The bottom line is that winning world titles is more important than records. It is possible that both the smashing record and a second world title will soon come Verstappen's way, as the competition has so far failed to make up any ground.
Speculation is already rife as to where Verstappen will succeed in winning his second world title. At the moment Red Bull Racing is working on it, the earliest possibility could be in Japan, with four races to go. That would also be a very special moment to grab the championship because of its ties with Honda.
