The McLaren period is over for Daniel Ricciardo after this season. The Australian has to make way for Oscar Piastri who will form a team with Lando Norris from 2023. For Ricciardo, it remains to be seen whether he will be seen in Formula 1 next season. He keeps all possibilities open, he told Formule1.nl.

Ricciardo hopes to be back on the grid at all Grands Prix next season. However, most teams are already full, so the former teammate of Max Verstappen does not rule out a year as a reserve driver. A season without Formula 1 is also a possibility.

"The last 18 months have been more challenging so maybe that would be good," Ricciardo says. "But it's also good to stay active. That's why I'm open to anything. Even if it's reserve role: I don't want to be too proud to say I'm too good for that."

Opportunities for Ricciardo

The driver says his main concern is to make the right decision. As such, it may be some time before Ricciardo comes forward with his future plans. According to Jenson Button a move to Williams could be a good choice.
