After the Italian Grand Prix, the most talked about aspect of the race was finishing under the safety car. On the Monza circuit, it took several laps to remove Daniel Ricciardo 's McLaren car, which ultimately left too few laps to race. The FIA immediately started talks with senior representatives of all Formula 1 teams on Monday.

The race in Italy did not end the way the fans and most drivers would have liked it to. Red Bull Racing and Ferrari were critical, but a team like Mercedes agreed with the decisions of the race committee and said that the rules had been followed. Still, in general there was a lot of frustration among a majority of the teams and so the incident was immediately discussed on Monday.

Direct consultations in Italy

The Guardian reports: "Senior Formula One team managers with the FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem on Monday for a summit meeting, with the controversial finish to Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix the agenda. Many team principals were angry at how the race ended behind the safety car and are insistent the FIA must change its regulations to avoid a repeat of the events."

The British medium does not write on its website about the outcome of the conversation. Within the premier class of motorsport everyone seems convinced that it is not in the interest of the sport to end up behind the safety car again. How and when this will be done remains to be seen.
