Binotto has clear vision: "I don't want to replace people"

Ferrari started the 2022 Formula 1 season extremely strong, but slipped behind in the championship. Mattia Binotto's team even has to watch out for Mercedes in the final stages of the year. The team boss sees that changes are necessary.
Changes needed at Ferrari
Ferrari, which started the season as championship leader, is currently well behind Red Bull Racing. To make matters worse, slow-starting Mercedes are now battling with the Italian team for P2 in the constructors championship. While Binotto stresses that a team is always allowed to make mistakes during a race, the Italian also thinks that changes are needed at his team to still have a claim on the second spot in the championship.
Sky Sports quotes the team boss: "We don't need to replace people, but we need to do something. Looking at the way we communicate and the way we make decisions... Changes are needed. Possibly we need to up the value, maybe we need to add people to our team. In any case, replacing people is not a path I want to go down. That is an old way of solving problems."

Mercedes is knocking on Ferrari's door with a deficit of just 35 points, while Red Bull is practically unbeatable with a lead of no less than 139 points. Binotto prefers not to think about the scenario in which Mercedes passes Ferrari: "That would be painful; for the result, for the way we started this season. It would show that we have not been good enough in continuing to develop our car this season. For now, we are ahead and the intention is to stay there."
