Charles Leclerc saw that the first day in Singapore did not go as hoped. The Monegasque hardly drove any laps on track, especially in the second free practice, leaving Ferrari with a lot of work to do in the coming hours. Still, Leclerc is confident things will work out.

"In terms of performance it's been a positive day. But in terms of running it's been very very difficult," Leclerc told Sky Sports. "A lot of problems and limited problems so we need to catch up in FP3. Seems like the performance is good which is a good thing but we still need to do a step tomorrow."

Leclerc confident in Ferrari

Whereas in the first practice session Leclerc still managed to take the third fastest time in 17 laps, a session later the number was as high as 14 laps. However, there were more drivers who came to a low number. Max Verstappen, for instance, did not get beyond eight laps.

"It's never ideal to not have much running, the more laps you do the faster you get. I'm not too worried. I'm sure we can have a clean FP3 and catch up. The only shame is we didn't do any race run but qualifying is important and we will be strong."

His teammate Carlos Sainz got significantly further in the practice sessions, completing 24 and 23 laps respectively. The Spaniard managed to grab the fastest lap in Friday's final session, making him over two tenths faster than Leclerc.
