Russell disappointed in miss out on win: 'We had that chance'

George Russell crossed the line in 14th place in Singapore on Sunday, leaving him without points. Speaking to Viaplay afterwards, the British driver was very disappointed as he felt there was much more in it.
"We were very fast on the inters en very fast on slicks," he reflected after the race. Moreover, Russell knew that the problems from a day earlier had been solved. "Confidence is restore. The problem from qualifying has been resolved."
Although Russell felt that Mercedes could go for the win in Singapore, Mercedes stayed far away from it. Hamilton got no further than ninth place, while Russell thus failed to finish in the top 10. "We had that opportunity," the driver is convinced, however.
Russell saw Mercedes make wrong choice
During the race, it was not Russell's decision to switch to slicks. "I actually asked the pit wall for a new set of intermediates," he is quoted as saying by Motorsport-Magazin.com. "Of course, that was a completely wrong decision, but we had to try something."
