Raymond Vermeulen is still overjoyed that Max Verstappen managed to win his second world title in Japan. In conversation with Motorsport.com the manager of Verstappen looks back on the Dutchman's convincing season, in which the driver made a more relaxed impression compared to 2021.
According to Vermeulen, there are several components that made Verstappen barely beatable this calendar year. Namely, besides his own qualities, Red Bull Racing has a well-performing and reliable engine as well as an excellently designed car.
The package ensures that the competition has great difficulty in providing Red Bull with the necessary resistance. With Sergio Perez still battling Charles Leclerc and Verstappen more than 100 points ahead, Vermeulen sees the reigning world champion also making the difference in results. "With Max in the car, I even think they are unbeatable," he judges to the medium.
Deserved world title for Verstappen
Verstappen still faced resistance from Leclerc at the beginning of the race year due to some dropouts, but soon managed to take a wide lead. Vermeulen therefore believes the world title went to the right person. "In the end, Max is the only deserved world champion this year," he said.
