Max Verstappen fought hard against Lewis Hamilton for his first F1 world title in 2021. Meanwhile, the Dutchman was able to add his second title in Japan. In doing so, he won the second fastest second title ever in F1.

Verstappen again at the top of a record list

In 2021, the fight for the title with Hamilton lasted until the last race in Abu Dhabi, but in 2022, Verstappen managed to secure his second title extremely quickly. With four races to go, the Red Bull Racing driver is already champion. The fact that he took his title late in the season in 2021 and did it early in 2022 ensures that there were only 302 days between his two titles. The only driver to ever do this faster was Jack Brabham.

Brabham grabbed two titles in a row in 1959 and 1960. He grabbed his third in 1966, but his first two titles earn him the title of fastest consecutive championships. Only 246 days were between the two titles. It is a striking statistic because in the 70-plus F1 seasons, only six drivers managed to win two titles within 12 months. At number three is Sebastian Vettel with 329 days, at four is Michael Schumacher with 343 days and at a shared P5 are Alberto Ascari and Mika Hakkinen with both 364 days.
