Provisional starting grid GP Mexico | Two drivers with grid penalties

The provisional starting grid for the Mexican Grand Prix is a fact now that qualifying has been run at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez. Max Verstappen may start from pole position Sunday, but he will be chased from the first moment by both Mercedes cars. However, they in turn will have to be vigilant for Sergio Perez in his fast RB18.

The Ferraris were not up to the task in Mexico. Carlos Sainz had to settle for fifth place, while Charles Leclerc did not go beyond P7 after engine problems and a broken DRS. Surely the surprise of the day was Valtteri Bottas. The Alfa Romeo Racing driver is a lover of the track in Mexico and showed it with a handsome sixth time.

The battle for P4 in the constructors' championship is still completely open and it will undoubtedly be exciting in Mexico as well. Lando Norris starts from P8 with two Alpines breathing down his neck. Daniel Ricciardo can put the pressure on the Alpines from 11th place. Basically a Red Bull/Mercedes scenario, then, but a couple of starting rows further back.

Two drivers have run into grid penalties. Kevin Magnussen has to surrender five positions because of a new combustion engine. Lance Stroll is put back three spots because of his part in last week's crash with Fernando Alonso at COTA. Magnussen (P19) and Stroll (P20) occupy the final starting row.
