Hamilton and Russell want to help each other to victory: 'That's our role'

Lewis Hamilton and George Russell start right behind Max Verstappen in the Mexican Grand Prix. The goal of the Mercedes drivers is clear: win, no matter who succeeds. What is clear is that the team has discussed with the drivers how they should help each other to an eventual victory.
"Turn one is gonna be exciting. Really proud of the team, everyone is working so hard this year. It's just a true showing of resilience and never giving up. We're on the first two rows so hopefully we can fight the Red Bulls, that would be amazing," Hamilton tells his story in a broadcast of Formula 1.
Mercedes drivers will help each other
Hamilton thinks it will come down to tyre management and race pace after the first corner, but he also stresses the importance of working together. "We will work together as a team today to get that win. That's our role as teammates and so if I get help or vice versa, that's what we'll do," he says, pointing in his teammate's direction.
Russell agrees with his teammate's words and is brimming with confidence when it comes to his chances in the race. "I think we've got the car to win today over the course of seventy laps, but it's gonna be a very long run for us into turn one. They've always been very quick on the straights so it'll be very difficult for Lewis and I to get ahead, but we'll definitely be doing our utmost to achieve that," Russell concluded.
