Haas preview: Steiner sees opportunities in Brazil
- GPblog.com
Haas team boss Guenther Steiner is optimistic about the team's chances in Brazil. In the preview on the team's website, Steiner says he is excited by the prospect of a sprint race and thinks the team will do even better next year.
With two races to go, it looks very much like eighth place among constructors is the highest Haas can achieve this season. While that is not a great result, it is an improvement on the past two seasons. Haas still has to be careful though, as AlphaTauri is nipping at the US team's heels with just one point difference.
The race in Brazil will be the third race this year preceded by a sprint race. For Steiner, a reason to be positive as sprint races have produced good results for Haas this year. "In Austria and Imola this year we scored points in both sprint and the main race. So yes, I was very happy with that. I would like to see more sprint races because it makes the whole race weekend more interesting."
'This trend will continue into next season'
Looking ahead to next season, Steiner says he is optimistic about the team's chances. After a disappointing season in 2020 and effectively sacrificing the 2021 season to push development forward, Steiner says there has been visible progress with the car. In his estimation, the trend of improvement will continue next year.
