George Russell does not have too high expectations when it comes to excitement at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which will be on the Formula 1 calendar from next year. When it comes to the atmosphere and festivities, though, expectations are high.

Little inspired layout Las Vegas

Russell attended the circuit's launch party in Las Vegas along with Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez, among others. The track layout is not the most exciting, the Mercedes driver acknowledged in the broadcast on Formula 1's YouTube channel.

He won't call it 'simple', but his expectations aren't too high. "It's never simple driving a Formula 1 car around a circuit as fast as this," says Russell. However, he cannot deny that it is unlikely to be one of the most challenging races. "I don't think this is probably gonna be the most exciting one to drive, but I feel like this race was designed for good racing, for overtakes, good racing entertainment."

It is possible that the race will have to make the most of the spectacle around it, because all three drivers agree on that: it will be a big party. That the race might be less exciting should then be taken for granted, Russell thinks. "To be honest, I don't really care as long as we're in front," the Mercedes driver concludes.
