Kevin Magnussen will start the sprint race for the Brazilian Grand Prix from pole position after a sensational qualifying session. It will not be an easy task to keep the other drivers behind him, but Guenther Steiner hopes the Dane can finish in the top eight.

Nobody had seen it coming that Magnussen would be on pole position for the sprint race at Interlagos with his Haas. The driver was helped by the wet weather conditions at the end of Q3, leaving no one able to improve their time on the soft tyres.

It will be difficult to keep Max Verstappen and George Russell behind, and drivers further down the field are also motivated to gain positions. Speaking to Viaplay, Steiner reveals that he is optimistic, but the team boss also remains realistic. A place in the top eight would be nice for the main race on Sunday.

Haas and Magnussen motivated

"Our aim is to stay in the top eight so we score points. Then tomorrow we are in a good starting position. Let's see if we can achieve it. I think everyone is highly motivated, Kevin included, so I hope we can pull it off", says the Austrian.
