While Mercedes had their strongest showing of the season in the São Paulo F1 Sprint, finishing first and third, the celebrations may have to pause as Lewis Hamilton has been summoned to the stewards for a start procedure infraction.

Penalty unlikely

Mercedes' Andrew Shovlin spoke to Sky after the F1 Sprint, seemingly unsure of what will come of the infraction.

When asked what he knows, the Mercedes chief had this to say; "I wasn't talking to race control. They will look at it. That may be associated with start position in the box. But we got that footage and it looks like we are very conservative in terms with the line. We don't know if its a sensor issue."

Should Hamilton walk away without any penalties taken, he will be starting the São Paulo Grand Prix from second place, making it a Mercedes front-row lockout for the first time in 2022.
