The mediums did not suit Max Verstappen, but the softs did not seem a good option for the team either. Christian Horner is keeping his spirits up for the race.

Horner hints at team orders

During the sprint at Interlagos, it became clear that tyre choice was key. According to Horner, strategy could therefore play a decisive role in the Brazilian Grand Prix. "This is going to be a very tactical race," he told Sky Sports. "It's hotter than yesterday and the cars will be heavier than yesterday. So, it's going to be interesting."

For the race, Red Bull hopes it can get Sergio Perez ahead of Charles Leclerc to start the Abu Dhabi GP with an advantage, possibly securing second place in the championship. "Then team orders will come into play," added the Red Bull team boss.

Horner stressed the sensitivity of the tyres, after the decision to put Verstappen on mediums in the sprint proved detrimental to the team. Red Bull learned lessons from that and at the start of the race, both Verstappen and Sergio Perez were on softs.
