Daniel Ricciardo has been found guilty of the incident with Kevin Magnussen on the first lap of the Brazilian Grand Prix. As the driver could no longer be penalised during the race, it lands him a three-place grid penalty at the Abu Dhabi GP.

Grid penalty for Ricciardo in Abu Dhabi

Ricciardo receives a grid penalty of three places and two penalty points for causing the crash with Magnussen on the opening lap of the race. As an explanation, the stewards say the action was "not reckless" but does not qualify as a typical first-lap incident because no other cars were involved.

The stewards, therefore, ruled that the McLaren driver was at fault for the incident and that a penalty was appropriate. That penalty will come in the form of a three-place grid penalty at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last race Ricciardo drives on behalf of McLaren and, for the time being, also his last race in Formula 1.
