Mercedes were the big winner at the Brazilian Grand Prix. While George Russell took his first career victory, Lewis Hamilton managed to secure second place. However, there were more standouts during the race weekend. Who will be the 'GPblog Driver of the Day' of the Brazilian Grand Prix?

Besides Mercedes, Ferrari also managed to perform well. Carlos Sainz had to start from seventh due to an engine change, while Charles Leclerc was fifth on the grid. The Spaniard eventually managed to reach the podium, while Leclerc fell just short of that.

Red Bull Racing hoped to be in contention for the podium places, but the Austrian formation fell far short with sixth and seventh places for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez respectively. Fernando Alonso, on the other hand, achieved another handsome performance by grabbing P5.

Scandinavians show positive performance

Valtteri Bottas showed a positive performance at the start of the race, grabbing the ninth final spot. This kept him ahead of Lance Stroll who brought in another point for his team. Kevin Magnussen was still allowed to start in pole position in the sprint race, but dropped out early in the race on Sunday after an incident. The Dane thus saw his dream weekend fall apart.
