Perez wants to fight for world title next season

Sergio Perez will have completed two seasons at Red Bull Racing after next weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. While in recent seasons he was frequently in the service of his teammate Max Verstappen, he hopes to go for the world title himself in 2023.
At the beginning of the season, Perez still managed to stay close to Verstappen, but the Dutchman soon regained his lead. The driver then drove gloriously to the world title, leaving his Mexican teammate far behind.
Perez hopes this will be different next race year. The 32-year-old driver gained a lot of experience at the Austrian formation in recent seasons and believes it will help him to compete for prizes every weekend next calendar year, although he knows it will be a big challenge.
"I think it really depends on how comfortable I am at the start of the season with the car, as I was in the beginning of the season, then it slipped away," Perez stated in an interview with Motorsportweek.com.
Perez satisfied with current form
The driver says he is in excellent form and is therefore ready to challenge Verstappen. "I think as Formula 1 drivers, we are constantly working for new challenges, you know, all the time. But I do feel, at this time, I’m pretty much at my best."
