Sainz sets goal for Abu Dhabi GP: 'Then see from there'
- GPblog.com
Carlos Sainz is ready to start the final race weekend of the Formula 1 season. At the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ferrari must try to keep Mercedes behind them in the constructors' championship. The Spaniard sees a clear challenge in doing so, he told GPblog at the press conference, among others.
In the early stages of the season, Ferrari still managed to run away from Mercedes by many points, but the German formation recovered after a few months. It ensures that the difference between the two teams is still just 19 points in favour of the Italians.
Sainz has clear message for Ferrari
Mattia Binotto 's team is therefore feeling the tension mounting towards the final race. Sainz himself is very confident that Ferrari will be able to keep Mercedes behind them and reveals that the racing stable should try to take victory first.
"I think if we focus on our weekend, get together a strong weekend," the driver stated. "We will try to fight for the win. Then we should get enough point. If Mercedes dominate the weekend and get a one-two, it gets complicated. Let's make sure we are on pole and win the race. Then see from there."
