Competitive car desired for Alonso: 'Then he will be at the front'

Next season, Fernando Alonso will leave Alpine for the Aston Martin team. At the age of 41, the Spaniard is still highly motivated to win a third-world title in Formula 1. Stefano Domenicali believes it is important for Alonso to stay in the sport.
Alonso's switch from Alpine to Aston Martin came as a big surprise to many fans, as well as the French team itself. Alpine had counted on the Spaniard staying with the team for another year, but in the meantime, Alonso had already held talks with Aston Martin. With the departure of Sebastian Vettel, a seat suddenly became available at the ambitious team.
Although Aston Martin certainly did not have the best car last season, Alonso's choice is understandable. The motivated driver will fit in well with Aston Martin's ambitious team, which has big plans to become world champions. The British team is currently building a new factory.
Alonso back at the front with winning car
"The most important thing is that Fernando stays in F1. He has also shown this year that age is not a problem. He is a very competitive driver", Domenicali is quoted by AS. Alonso left the sport after the 2018 season, but returned to Alpine two years later. The Spaniard is as motivated as ever to win a world title.
"I am not surprised, because Fernando has F1 in his blood. He always finds motivation. Even when he left he wanted to come back. He deserves his place. The wish is that he has a competitive car, because if he has one, he will be at the front", the F1 boss ends. Last season, Alonso did not have much luck as he crashed out no less than six times on Sunday. Alpine appeared not to have the reliability of the car under control.
