Mick Schumacher will continue to work in Formula 1 next season. Although he failed to secure a regular place on the grid again, a nice challenge awaits him. Indeed, he is Mercedes' new reserve driver, the German formation reported on its official channels.
For the past two seasons, Schumacher was part of the Haas F1 team. In both years, however, the talent failed to live up to expectations, leading the US racing stable to decide to part ways with him.

However, Schumacher did not sit back and looked around for a new opportunity. Mercedes' name then fell quickly. As such, team boss Toto Wolff revealed that there is always a place for Schumacher and that he was therefore happy to cooperate with a switch.
With the departure of Nyck de Vries to AlphaTauri, the team was looking for a new reserve driver. Schumacher appeared to be interested in such a role and started talks with Mercedes behind the scenes. It eventually led to a deal between the two parties.
It is a special move for him, as a decade ago his father Michael Schumacher was active for Mercedes. The German returned to Formula 1 in 2010 to drive for Mercedes. In three years, he did not progress beyond ninth, eighth and 13th in the world championship.
